Since 1961, CRL (C. R. Laurence) has been the premier, full-service manufacturer and international distributor of architectural metals, glass fittings, shower hardware, and professional-grade glazing tools.

The CRL Service Center Prototype project established spatial design, interior fixtures, environmental graphics, and branded design features for Service Centers ranging from 40,000 to 125,000 square feet, housed within their manufacturing and distribution facilities.

CRL invited Chu-Gooding to design the next generation of CRL Service Centers: attractive, hospitable showrooms and customer service centers built to better serve CRL’s visitors, contractors, and personnel.

Programming studies conducted at multiple nationwide locations provided an in-depth understanding of CRL Service Center challenges and future-proofing strategies. Chu-Gooding’s resulting prototype design streamlines the workflow between factory, distribution, customer service, education, and community-building spaces.

Brand colors and extended interpretation of CRL’s brand graphics were liberally used to create a dynamic and energizing atmosphere. Transparency to public amenities such as conference rooms, floor manager offices, product displays, and retail stations enhanced the relationship building between CRL staff and customers.

Chu-Gooding’s prototype design is intended to be scalable and replicated at new and revitalized CRL Service Centers worldwide.
